This course addresses issues related to economic, political and cultural influences on mass media content. The course is conducted as a seminar in which students examine a range of media issues from tobacco advertising to violence in television, to the portrayal of minority groups in film. Students participate in the selection of topics to be covered. Prerequisite: COMM 150 or permission of the instructor.
