Explores the relationship between historical truth and _ction through an examination of documentaries made of Depression Era America. Through our examination of di_erent types of documentary expression (e.g., photography, ethnography, literature, _lm, and oral history), students will learn to interpret these texts as historical sources. Students may experience _rst-hand the stages of documentary production by conducting oral history interviews, which they videotape and edit into a _nal documentary narrative.
