This course is an introduction to the basic techniques in digital image processing and visualization. Specific image processing topics include image acquisition, image enhancement, color representations, linear image filtering and correlation, image compression and image analysis. Topics in visualization include perception, scalar, volume and flow visualization. Advanced display techniques such as virtual reality, haptics, sonifciation and Content-Based Image Retrieval(CBIR) will be presented.
