This course is designed to provide both a theoretical and practical approach to modern telecommunications networks. The theoretical topics include data and packet transmission, the architecture of networks and protocols, and network applications. The practical component of the course is conducted in a networking lab and includes the construction, configuration, and administration of a network using appropriate operating systems. Prerequisite: CAIS 250 and MATH 101 or its equivalent.
