Description:
Three hours lecture. Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education Program. Corequisite: EDUC 410, EDUC 425, EDUC 430, and EDRD 414. Designed to provide preservice teachers with the knowledge, skills and dispositions essential to implementing an integrated approach to language arts programs in the Pre-K-6 classroom. The course focuses on methods for teaching children's literature, language acquisition, writing, literacy assessment, applications of word study, visual literacy, critical literacy, the social context of literacy, and English Language Learners.
