3 s.h. This course is the second part to WMST 290. The course uses films to explore the question of women's sexuality in the contemporary United States with special attention to cultural conflicts, social and political agency, textual contradictions, and ideological symbols. The course primarily examines the ways in which such representations of women have been understood in terms of sexuality and how this sexualization has intersected race. Coursework and class discussion will be grounded in recent feminist film criticism. ( LA) Prerequisite: None.
