1-15 s.h. Study of social organization in particular settings, emphasizing field experience. Possible settings for observation, participation, work, or research include factories, farms, hospitals, restaurants, communes, monasteries, prisons, labor unions, retail stores, and voluntary associations, government units and human services agencies. Maximum of 9 s.h. for credit as elective in major. Offered in a human services class format every Fall and Spring (may require SOCL 210 as added prerequisite). Offered irregularly at student request and subject to availability of faculty (usually without added prerequisite). Approximately 40 hours field experience per credit hour. Prerequisites: JrS and 3 s.h. of 200-level SOCL.
