3 s.h. This course is an attempt to gain understanding of contemporary transnational movements of people in the age of globalization. It studies a brief history of migration of peoples, and analyzes the intersecting issues of migration and immigration in the frame of social, cultural, political and economic relations. Major theories in this field will be critically examined. Although the course focuses on the U.S., other host countries such as UK, Germany, France, Canada, Japan and so on will be used for comparison. ( LA) Prerequisite: 3 s.h. SOCL.
