1 s.h. This discussion and practice course is designed to prepare students to tutor their peers effectively. Topics of study are the multiple intelligences, personality theory, metacognition, intermediate reading strategies, teaching note-taking strategies, interpersonal communication strategies, and assisting students who have learning disabilities. This course is for tutors employed by or seeking employment by the Center for Academic Development and Enrichment. Students should enroll for as many Becoming a Master Tutor mini courses in a semester as possible (but only one at a time) to complete the series PROF 221, 222 and 223 within one or two semesters. Prerequisites: Recommendation letter from a professor and/or permission of CADE director, or successful completion of PROF 221 or 223. Also, "B+" or better in subject area to be tutored.
