3 s.h. Analyzes the organization of American military services and the role of combat in pursuit of national political objectives. The Cold War period, beginning with the Korean War and ending with the Persian Gulf War, will be examined. The problems of maintaining civilian control of military and defense department policies will be carefully considered. ( LA) Prerequisite: SoS or 3 s.h. POLS.
