Examines the vital role played by the executive branch's public bureaucracy within the American political system by focusing upon the critical linkages between the political process and the administrative process. Topics include administrative organization; administrative power; decision-making theory; representative bureaucracy; the budgetary process; and human resources management. Emphasizes bureaucratic responsibility via accountability to the President, Congress, judiciary, clienteles, and interest groups and public opinion. Prerequisite: SoS or 3 s.h. POLS. ( LA)
