4 s.h. Presents a variety of instructional strategies for teaching secondary social studies (7-12). Course includes discussion of such topics as the history and philosophy of the discipline, curriculum and assessment at the secondary level, integration of content from a variety of social science and humanities disciplines, middle school philosophy and organization, classroom management strategies, applications of technology, diversity and exceptionality issues, constructivism, leadership, and service learning. Course includes a minimum of 50 hours field placement in a middle or high school Social Studies classroom. ( CPA) Prerequisites: EDUC 106 and EDUC 201 and EDUC 206 and EPSY 229 and EPSY 250 and Candidate status in Division of Education required.
