3 s.h. The principles and practices of early childhood education with a focus on meeting the cognitive, social-emotional and physical developmental needs of three- and four-year-old children form the base of this course. Observation, documentation, activity planning and implementation and assessment are part of a field work component in preschool settings. An emphasis on the development of positive, collaborative relationships with diverse families is included. Cooperative projects, field experience and service learning serve to empower teacher candidates. Prerequisites: JrS, with department approval.
