4 s.h. Lecture provides an introduction to biological models and their roles in carrying out cell functions. Key cellular processes such as respiration, photosynthesis, assembly of proteins, and cell division are presented. The laboratory uses modern techniques to study enzyme action, to grow and observe living cells, and to analyze cell structures. ( LA) Prerequisite: BIOL 105 or BIOL 200.
