3 s.h. A study of the changing image of women in visual art. Through an examination of works of art-primarily painting, but prints, photographs, sculpture, installation, and mixed media, as well-the aim will be to ascertain how the concept of the feminine has been constructed within the restrictions of time and place, and to analyze how that construction has actively produced meaning for the sign, woman. ( LA) Prerequisite: ARTH 109 or 110.
