A discussion of current research and issues relating to the conservation of biodiversity, covering such topics as patterns of diversity and rarity, causes of extinction, population genetics, habitat fragmentation and the practice of conservation biology. Students will be required to give oral presentations and write a review paper about current topics. Prerequisites: BIOL 282 or ENVS 101 and 201.
