Prereq: perm. Through lectures and discussion, groups deal with the principles and concepts involved in determining the proper approach to ethical dilemmas in the primary care setting. Provides a broad spectrum of knowledge of the ethical issues with which practicing health care providers struggle. Insight into human value development, decision making in value issues, and basic principles of health care ethics. Topics and situations include the impaired supervising physician, conflicts with the physician or patient, euthanasia, abortion, the right to health care, confidentiality, and informed consent. Students participate in the ethical decision-making process as members of an ethics consultation team using actual case studies. F.
