Prereq: C or better 102, or placement for 112. Basic course in mathematics for prospective elementary teachers, also suitable as an in-service course for teachers or an elective for liberal arts students. Exploratory-level introduction of algorithms in their simplest form gradually increases in difficulty to the symbolic and mastery level using inductive and deductive reasoning. Manipulative materials provide concrete models of problem situations and to help with development of thinking strategies. Sp; ISP.
