Prereq: jr or perm of director. Provides an overview of equipment found in crime laboratories and instruments used in field applications. Includes basic laboratory protocols for maintaining safety and evidence integrity, and selection of appropriate tools for various types of analysis. Practical field applications support lecture components. Instruments covered are comparison microscope, gas chromatograph, mass spectrometer, spectrophotometer, spectrograph, alternative light source equipment, and electronic distance measurement (EDM) equipment.
