Provides basic leadership skills and tools needed to perform effectively in the fire service environment. Covers a wide range of leadership topics, including techniques and approaches to problem solving, identifying and assessing the needs of the company officer's subordinates, running effective meetings, decision-making skills for the company officer, ethics, use and abuse of power at the company officer level, management of multiple roles, creativity, delegating to and disciplining subordinates, applying coaching and motivation techniques, and assessment of personal leadership styles through situational leadership. Based in part on FEMA/USFA/NFA Leadership I, II, and III courses.
