Defines the role of the initial responder and provides essential knowledge for recognizing the potential of an intentionally set fire, preserving evidence, and properly reporting the information to appropriate officials. Basic topics include fire behavior, critical observations of the first responder, fire cause scene security and evidence preservation, legal considerations, and proper reporting of findings. Based in part on FEMA/USFA/NFA Arson Detection for First Responder course.
