This course investigates major literary critical theories from Plato to the present; the investigation is both historical and methodological. Students will examine the theories that have shaped the direction that literary forms have taken through the centuries and how the interpretation of literature has been influenced and changed by modern thought. Prerequisites: Any two of ENG344, 346, 348, 350.
