Studio experiences will be in designing and creating ceramic forms, emphasizing techniques of handbuilding, wheel throwing, and decoration. Techniques include pinch pots, coil, slab, sculpture, and wheel throwing. Students will be introduced to different types of clay and firing techniques. A focus on development of form as well as the use of glazes, slips, and engobes will be considered. Students will gain a visual awareness of the craft and art of original ceramic pottery and/or sculpture, and learn to identify and use the techniques, tools, processes, and materials associated with original ceramic pottery and/or sculpture in a creative and expressive way. ($35.00 course fee)
