Introduces students to the historical foundations and contemporary practice of art education. Special emphasis is given to the development of conceptual understandings and skills in aesthetics, art criticism, art history, visual culture and art production, including digital media and computer technologies. Students will investigate fundamental issues in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and will explore career opportunities in both schools and community art settings through field observations. Introduction to Art Education serves as a prerequisite for further study in the Art Education major. Recommended prerequisite is EDU 2100: Foundation of Education.
