An in-depth analytical study of music composed for small groups (2-13 instruments), this course will focus on selected works composed between 1750 and 1950 which have made a significant impact in the evolution of Western music. The format of the class is lecture and discussion with students and professor taking turns presenting. Live performances by students, faculty and visiting ensembles will be used whenever possible.
