This class has two primary goals for each student: (1) the acquisition of a basic performance ability on and understanding of woodwind instruments, especially flute and clarinet, including the acoustics, history, unique characteristics and other elements of each woodwind instrument; and (2) the acquisition of teaching techniques and resources for use in teaching woodwind for beginning woodwind classes of all ages and in a variety of settings, including elementary, junior high, middle and high schools, as well as in nonpublic school settings.
