A survey of masterpieces of Russian Film from the 1920s to the present including works by Eisenstein, Vertov, and Tarkovsky. The course will examine the ways in which directors, like authors of novels and other literary genres, create a fictional world; the historical and social context in which these films were made will also be discussed.
