A comparative study of the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) in terms of their verbal similarities and differences, their oral and written sources and their different portraits of Jesus of Nazareth. Special attention will be given to the modern quest for the historical Jesus, to Jesus' teaching methods based on parables and aphorisms and to the various images of Jesus in Medieval and Modern culture.
