Description:
This course focuses on Quebecois literature and cinema produced since the "Révolution tranquille" and Quebec's entrance into modernity in the 1960's. Examines Quebecois authors who unleashed a social and cultural revolution through their questioning of tradition, including that of the French language itself exemplified by their use of the working-class sociolect "joual," a non-standard dialect of Canadian French.
