Study of the theory of costume design for the stage. Topics include a study of the role of the costume designer and relationships with other theatre personnel, the duties of the costume designer, analysis of play and character interpretation, use of design concepts in line, texture, color, movement, light, fabric choices and alterations (dyeing, etc.), research methods, budget estimates, accessories and special effects. Prerequisite(s): Concurrent enrollment in THE 243 is required. Theatre experience or permission of instructor. Every two years. Credit: 4
