This is a seminar course that examines the nature and meaning of history. During the semester students will explore various approaches and methodologies employed by scholars in constructing the historical past. Students will also be introduced to the concept of historiography, examining the changing nature of historical analysis. In the course an emphasis is placed on developing writing techniques, organizing papers and research methods. The specific topics and periods covered will be determined by the individual instructors. Prerequisite(s): History majors only; sophomore standing; permission of instructor. Every semester. Credit: 4
