Writing the Literary Novel guides students through a process of discovery of the key elements of a novel, all of which center on characterization. Class exercises lead to three chapters at semester's end. The workshop format teaches revision skills. Fantasy and science fiction are not workable genres for this course. Individual conferences and attendance at readings may be required. Prerequisite(s): ENG 100; BFA, ENG, SEN major or ELE/LA concentration, or permission of instructor.
