Description:
This course is intended for students to develop basic language proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking that will enable them to progress to more advanced courses in the ELI program in preparation for academic studies. Students will read a variety of short texts and write wellorganized paragraphs. Through group work, students will improve fluency and understanding of spoken English discourse, understand and utilize patterns of organization in writing, and develop reading speed while maintaining comprehension. Prerequisite: TOEFL score of 390/90-450/133 or permission of the instructor.
