This course surveys African American literature, including poetry, fiction, and memoir. Students develop a working knowledge of important writers, tropes, and issues in the black American literary tradition. They also examine their assumptions concerning race, identity, and culture a both as discrete and as interrelated concepts. Prerequisite: ENB 111.
