This course explores the fundamentals of jazz dance movement on the beginning level, while incorporating ballet and contemporary dance techniques. Various styles of character, social, and ethnic dance are explored. Class consists of a standing warm-up, floor warm-up, stretching, center work, traveling, and traveling combinations. Emphasis is on full-body conditioning. A studio format is used. Prerequisites: Music theatre major and HTD 110-111, or permission of instructor.
