Indepth study of compositional techniques, primarily for composers and theorists. Emphasis on writing and drill instead of analysis, giving the student a foundation in most technical aspects of composition. Course includes some discussion of aesthetics issues and music's relation to the other arts. Three hours weekly. Prerequisite: TH 211. Usually offered alternate years.
