Unsupervised learning and feature extraction. Engineering-system design applications function approximation, classification, clustering, forecasting, control, optimization, pattern recognition. Hardware implementation of neural nets using nanoscale-integrated circuit technology. Engineering-design case studies from transportation, laser drilling, fingerprint identification, signal processing, and integrated circuit optimization. Lab projects, literaturesearch critical review. Prerequisite: Senior or graduate standing. Laboratory fee.
