This course introduces students to artistic traditions that are not bound by a single country or continent. It follows specific artistic traditions in relationship to the global movement of people, ideas, and objects, and considers the role of art in relation to instances of cultural encounter and transcultural interchange. In effect, the course traces the cultural side of globalization and provides students with a methodology for assessing the artistic outcomes of cultural encounters. Visual resources fee.
