This course focuses on what one modern Ibsen scholar has called the "radical truth" at the center o f Ibsen ? dramas. Well over a century has passed since Ibsen caused his first sensation with the 1879 appearance of A Dollhous e. After World War II, scholars embarked on a re-examination of Ibsen 's works, resulting in a critical rehabilitation of his plays. The aim of this course is to examine nine of Ibse n's prose plays in our own modern context .
