This course is required of all ceramic majors and is to provide an understanding of the raw materials used in making ceramics. This course involves hands-on working experience with ceramic raw materials and important information on how these materials affect each other in clay and glaze formulas. There is also emphasis on the firing of kilns and the effects of several kinds of firing methods. Prerequisites: CER 220 and 222, or permission of instructor.
