This course explores some key examples of the literatures of the Spanish-speaking Caribbean (i.e., Cuba, Puerto Rico, Santo Domingo) during the twentieth century, including those of its migrant and exile communities. We discuss questions concerning the literary elaboration of the region' s histories of slavery and colonialism, militarization, and territorial displacements.
