What duties do states and societies have beyond their borders Are obligations of justice global in scope What is the moral standing of states This course examines theories of global distributive and political justice, controversies over cosmopolitan democracy, and theories of human rights in light of global social structures and international inequalities. We consider contemporary arguments in political philosophy, sometimes in conversation with texts in the history of political thought.
