1st Semester. Lect. 3, 3 credits. Major design and implementation issues of multimedia database systems with emphasis on distributed multimedia database. Topics include: basic ideas underlying relational and object-oriented database, organization of different media types such as image, text, video, audio and a mix of them; storage and management techniques for disks, CD-ROMs, and tapes; creation and delivery of distributed multimedia presentation. Prerequisites: CSCI 340 or Department Approval.
