1st Semester. Lect. 3, 3 credits. Basic advanced design-type material of centralized and distributed operating system. Discussion of issues related to sequential processes, scheduling. Synchronization, deadlock, memory management, protection, device management, file system, and performance evaluation. Issues related exclusively to distributed operating system such as networks, distributed storage, and distributed synchronization will also be discussed. Prerequisites: CSCI 0435 or Departmental Approval.
