Description:

Examination of the tension between the need for economic development by less developed countries and the necessity to protect and preserve global environment. We will explore both domestic issues facing developing countries as they struggle to address their economic and environmental problems, and how their relationship with the rest of the international community influences their decisions. We will use various case studies (e.g., international fisheries) to explore the interplay between the environment, society, and economics on both local and global levels. Prerequisite: QR2. K.
