The course provides a cellular and organismal view of essential features of eukaryotic cell biology. Students will study cellular functions such as protein structure and function, cytoskeletal organization, cell migration, cellular metabolism, and cell signaling. In laboratory, students will gain experience with modern techniques for visualizing cell biological processes, with emphasis on differential interference contrast (DIC) optics, fluoresence, and confocal microscopy.
