Health psychology emerged as an interdisciplinary subfield of social psychology and medicine after it became apparent that the leading causes of death are chronic diseases closely related with individual behaviors and lifestyles. Research within this biopsychosocial approach helps to promote physical and mental health and to prevent and treat disease. Prereq: Eight credits in psychology. Offered: Fall.
