This course provides an introduction to the cinema of Latin America and Spain. Its main focus is the exploration of the Hispanic culture, history, society and political issues as represented in different films from Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, Spain, among other Hispanic countries. This course includes selected readings on film theory and representation of gender, race and class, as well as on Latin American and Spanish history and culture. Prerequisite: instructor's approval.
