(formerly SPA 129, 139) These are introductory courses that focus on the development of communicative proficiency in the Spanish language. These courses afford students the opportunities to practice speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in Spanish, as well as to gain knowledge and understanding of the culture. Particular emphasis is placed on the systematic mastery of vocabulary and conversational skills in a school setting. SPA 109 is intended for students with little or no previous experience in the language. SPA 110 is intended for students who have taken SPA 109 or with 3 or more years of Spanish at the secondary level. Students are required to complete 1 hour of lab work per week in the Language Resource Center. (SPA 109-Offered Fall, SPA 110-Offered Spring) Fee-$25.00 each course. 3, 3 credits
