(formerly SPA 255, 312) This course introduces the student to the most important and influential artistic and ideological movements of the 20th and 21st centuries in Latin America. Throughout the course, the student will study representative literary works by authors from the "Modernismo'' to the latest contemporary writers. The selection of works is varied in order to encompass different genres-novel, short story, poetry, drama, essay styles and worldviews, and to exercise different critical and analytical approaches to the texts. Prerequisite: SPA 307. (Offered Fall 2007) 3 credits
